Mark F. Cheng - it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mark F. Cheng of Farragut, TN, on March 4, 2012, beloved Father, Husband, Grandfather and Friend. Mark attended the Knoxville Chinese Christian Church. He was born in 1934 in Nanking, China, and moved to the United States in 1965. Mark obtained a Master's of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee and he worked as a Civil Engineer at many companies which include: Andrew & Clark, Inc., New York, NY; TVA, Knoxville, TN; Stebbins Engineering and Manufacturing Company, Watertown, NY and Bechtel Savannah River Inc., North Augusta, SC. He retired as a Senior Engineer with Merrick & Company at the Department of Energy, Savannah River plant, Aiken, SC, in 2002. Mark had many interest and hobbies, including history, music, reading, tai-chi, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Eleanor Cheng. He is survived by son, Robert Cheng of Rossmoor, CA and his wife Ceci; daughter, Charlotte Hall of Chattanooga, TN and her husband Marshall and grandchildren, Caitlin, Derek, Morgan, Aiden and Keira. Mark was a conscientious and diligent man who lived his life with purpose and unconditional love for his family and friends. He spent his lifetime caring and providing, while asking for very little in return. He valued the time spent with family and friends and made any occasion meaningful. A visitation with the family will take place on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 11:00am in the Highland West Funeral Home Chapel, 9913 Sherrill Blvd., Knoxville, TN 37932 with the funeral service to follow at 11:30am; Pastor Yang-Kwang Chang will officiate the service.
