Leroy Byrd 79 of Knoxville passed away Thursday June 5, 2014 following an illness. Mr. Byrd was born in Tennessee to the late Melvin and Josephine Alred Byrd and had lived in the Knoxville area for 50 years. He was a retired boilermaker/welder with over 30years service at TVA. Leroy was a member of Boilermakers Local 453 and had served in the US Army in Korea. He was a member of Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Knoxville. Mr. Byrd is survived by his wife of 48 years Sara L. Byrd; son Randy Byrd; daughters Janet Reynolds; Sherry Bergholm and husband Norm; brother Tony Byrd and wife Sue; sisters Pearl Ackers ; Corrine Robertson and husband Jimmy;3 grandchildren; Matthew Dyke and fiancé' Lauren; Ashley Bergolm and fiancé' Lee; Ronnie Lee Reynolds and fiancé' Erica; 2 great grandchildren Ronnie Reynolds and Skyler Dyke. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12 noon Saturday June 7th with services to follow at Highland West Memorial Park Funerals and Cremations Chapel 9913- Sherrill Blvd. Knoxville.
