Elinor Hope McGee was 90 years old when she went to be with the Lord May 22, 2013. She was born July 17, 1922 in Memphis, Tennessee. She was the only child of Charles and Myrtle Miller. Mrs. McGee, who resided with her daughter Mary McGee Macko and son-in-law Bob Macko on Melton Hill Lake since 2007, was preceded in death by her husband George and her parents Charles and Myrtle Miller. She is survived by her son Bill McGee and his wife Roslyn McGee of Chattanooga, her daughter Kathy McGee Schatte and her husband Jerry Schatte of Houston, her son Carlton McGee and his wife Jean of Knoxville, and her daughter Mary McGee Macko and her husband Bob Macko of Knoxville. She is survived by seven grandchildren (Abby McGee Haase, Paul McGee, Sara McGee House, Rosie McGee, Will McGee, Ben Schatte and Anna Schatte.) She is also survived by six great-grandchildren (Caitlin McGee, Ashley McGee, Jacob Haase, Lauren House, Nathan House, and Charlie Ann House.) and several cousins (Terry Travis Erhardt and family of Florida, Kenny Travis and family of Nashville, Lisa Travis Daniel and family of Memphis, Julie Travis Rogers and family of San Antonio. She was an active member of Middlebrook Pike UMC for over forty years and loved by her church family where she was involved in the Willing Workers Circle. In earlier years she had been a member of the Knoxville Women's Club. She loved sewing, gardening, visiting friends, baking cookies and taking care of her pets. Nothing made her happier than visits from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her sweet smile, the bag of toys she always had on hand for children, her love of East Tennessee and her love of family. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 26, 2013 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Highland West Funeral Home. 9913 Sherrill Blvd., Knoxville, TN 37932. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Middlebrook United Methodist Church with the Interment to follow at Highland West Memorial Park
